Kamaluddin better known as Kamal is a director well known among the Malayali community around the world. He was born on November 28, 1957 in Mathilakam, Kodungallur. Kamal married Saburabi; they were blessed by, a daughter Hanna Kamal and a son Januse Mohammed. His interest in film making led him to enroll himself at the Kalabharathi Film Institute, Trichur. As a student at the Academy he had worked along with his fellow mates as an assistant director to develop his first film. The project was eventually dropped. Inspired by the fact the directors like I V Sasi and Bharathan were gaining popularity and fame, and a liking for movies along with the encouragement and support from his uncle Yousuf Padiyath, created a driving force in his mind to move towards Cinema. The yester year actor and a relative of Kamal, Bahadur was his guide to this industry. Thrasam directed by Ashraf Padiyath was his official entry into the Mystic world of Cinema as a writer. It was his short story which was later elaborated into a film. Working with his Mentors P.N Menon, K.S Sethumadhavan and Bharathan as Assistant Director moulded him into a director and gave the finishing touches before he debuted as a director in the production of Mizhineer Pookkal Starring Mohanlal and Oorvasi released on June 19, 1986.
He won State award for Best Director for the film Ulladakkam. This film was also honored the Filmfare award and also featured in Indian Panorama. Mazhayethum Munpe brought laurels as the State Award for Best Popular Film, Critic's Award and the Ramu Kariat award for Best Director. Madhuranombara Kattu & Meghamalhar was adjudged the State award for II best film. Meghamalhar also won State award for the Best Screenplay, Film Critics award for Best film, and Ramu Kariat award for Best Director.

SHAJI KARUN (Shaji N. Karun) born at Kerala, India; in 1952, studied Cinema and Television at the highly reputed film institute of India at Pune, graduating to become the cinematographer of nearly 40 films and almost all films of Aravindan. His work won him the Eastman Kodak Award for Excellence in 1990.
His directorial debut was not until 1988 with PIRAVI, which attracted tremendous acclaim. Selected in no less than 70 International and National film festivals, amongst them Cannes, it received 31 awards, including the prestigious Charlie Chaplin Award at Edinburgh, the Silver Leopard at Locarno, The Special Mention of Camera d'Or at Cannes, the Silver Hugo at Chicago and President of India's Gold Medal Award for the best film in the year 1989. His second film SWAHAM was received with equal praise selected not only in the Official Competition at Cannes in 1994, but also invited to numerous international festivals gathering a large number of awards. VANAPRASTHAM, the last dance, his third film. It was also his third to be selected at Cannes Film Festival, an honour bestowed on only a handful of Directors in the world. The Film has been adjudged as the Best film of the National film Festival of India in 1999 and has also won several National and international recognitions. NISHAD, his latest film in Hindi Language, completed in May 2002, and premiered in Fukuoka International Film Festival held September 2002 at Japan. As a Short filmmaker , he has been awarded Gold medal from The President of India in 1996 and won many honours from International Film Festivals.
Born in 1960, Shyamaprasad had his basic degree in Theatre Arts from the eminent School of Drama of Calicut University, India. Having been awarded the Commonwealth scholarship in 1989, he did his Masters in Media Productions at the Hull University, U.K. He has also worked as media researcher and creative contributor for BBC, Pebble Mill studios. Some of his most interesting work has been with Channel Four Televisions of Britain for their multi-racial programs. His features for TV and cinema have won him several national and provincial awards.
